Sugath Thilakaratne appointed as the mew chairman of Athletic Association of Sri Lanka

Former Athlete Sugath Thilakaratne has been appointed as the new chairman of the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka today, during the election of the athletic association held at the National Institute of Sports Science in Colombo.

Retired DIG Upali Kumarasiri contested with Sugath Thilakaratne for the chairmanship of the association.

During the election, Sugath Thilakaratne obtained 83 votes, while former DIG Upali Kumarasiri obtained 24 votes.

Accordingly, Sugath Thilakaratne, who won the election with 59 majority votes, was appointed as the new chairman of the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka

Sugath Thilakaratne who won the title of the national champion of 400 meters event is also a gold medallist at the Asian Games.
