Stadium manager getting paid for doing nothing

The R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo has two managers, with one of them, Nishantha de Silva getting paid for doing nothing.

He is an appointee of the former sports minister.

De Silva was given the appointment, despite the stadium already having a manager.

Previously, he was manager at R. Premadasa Stadium, but was sacked by former Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Nishantha Ranatunga.

Later, he challenged the SLC secretary over his position and filed a petition in the Mt. Lavinia district court.

He withdrew the petition on a promise by the then sports minister to reappoint him to his manager position.

Interim committee officials found the stadium was having two managers, and transferred de Silva to Surrey Village stadium in Maggona on July 01.

But, he is yet to accept the transfer, and stayed at the stadium by force during the second T20 between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, according to reports reaching Sri Lanka Mirror.

A relative of a top legal official, he is using the names of the former and the incumbent sports ministers to remain in his position.
