The 46-year old said he was not thinking about anything but Bangladesh at the moment.
Marvan Atapattu stepped down as Sri Lanka coach on Sep 3. The country's news media reported that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) was very keen to appoint their former assistant coach Hathurusingha as head coach.
SLC already appointed the board's Head of Coaching Jerome Jayaratne as interim coach for the national team.
Hathurusingha did not comment about the matter after reaching Dhaka on his return from vacation in Australia.
He, however, opened up while talking to journalists in a press conference at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
"No official [proposal] has been made to me. As a professional coach, whenever there is an opportunity for a job, sometimes your name crops up. That’s all I have to say."
He also questioned the veracity of the Lankan media reports, saying, “I don't know if it is true or not."
Hathurusingha said he had been happy with how things had panned out in Bangladesh.
"At this juncture, the most important thing for me is coaching Bangladesh and making sure we win the next series. Coaching your own country is something anyone will like to do, but there has to be a right time.
"At this stage I am very happy with what I am doing. Not only the players and my staff, even the board has given us a lot of support.
"We are doing well and everything is falling into place. I am very happy where I am at this stage."
Hathurusingha's contract with Bangladesh Cricket Board will end in mid-2016.
But the board's CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said they had long term plans involving the coach.
Hathurusingha was pleased with BCB's faith in him.
"It gives confidence. If your boss is saying they are happy with me and have a plan, it gives me a lot of security. I am very thankful."
Hathurusingha was made Bangladesh coach on a two-year contract in June last year.
