Malinga who was previously named captain for the tournament decided to step down after aggravating his injury during Sri Lanka’s only win at the Asia Cup against UAE.
Lasith Malinga, who did not leave to India along with the Team, due to his injuries, left for Kolkata on Monday (14).
Last week following his resignation from the Captaincy he had showed interest to be a part of the squad.
However, later in separate interviews with the media, the speedster said that he was not fit and the selectors had included him in the squad even after he had requested to opt out.
