Tharindu to India to test bowling action

Sri Lanka offspinner Tharindu Kaushal who has been reported for a suspect illegal bowling action is to leave for India yesterday evening (13) to undergo a test on his action at the Sri Ramachandra University.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) stated that tests will be conducted today at 10 pm.

Acting coach Jerome Jayaratne and spin bowling coach Piyal Wijetunga are also to accompany Tharindu in the journey.

Tharindu Kaushal was reported for a suspect illegal bowling action following the third Test against India that ended at the SSC in Colombo.

ICC had instructed SLC to subject him to test on his action at an ICC-accredited facility within 14 days.

The test results will be sent to SLC within 2 weeks and if it was proven that his bowling action was accurate he will be allowed to continue bowling in international cricket.

However, if it was identified to be wrong he will be suspended from international cricket until he fixes the action.

Under these circumstances the cricket critiques are of the opinion that he may not be able to participate in the West Indies tour to Sri Lanka.
